I was one of the pioneers in Israel and tried to share my knowledge with others around me.In the last 3.5 years I managed the Israeli polymer clay guild, written articles and books and taught in workshops. I was honored to meet very worm and supportive people around me and to have many students that are so talented and already have their own “voice” in clay.
Why am I telling you all this?
Because about a month ago I decided to retire from being the guild manager. It is not that I want to depart from my clay table (how can I?) I just needed the space for my self.
The reactions that I got from my fellow clayer in the guild to my decision were overwhelming- people were telling my such kind things about my role in their clay development and about what my doings mean to them. It was really touching and gratifying.
BUT- they did not stop here.
Last Monday my friends in the Israeli guild threw me a surprise party as appreciation for my activity and contribution to the clay community in Israel. I was soooo surprised and in shock. It was unbelievable- people came from all around the country just for me, they brought presents, kind words and they made me a book that summarizes my virtual activity.
How amazing can that be? I just love these people- each one that was in the room is a dear friend whom I got to know thanks to polymer clay.
Here are some links summarizing this last month which was very touching and affectionate form me.

this was my reaction when I came in with Roni Gur (left) who "invited" me to a girls night for me and her (boy' was I not prepared to what I saw instead when I came in to the restorant)
Layle is known to polumer clay artists as Silly Millies.she creates very colorful work with polymer clay and has her own style.
here she jenerously explains how she made this vibrant mermaid.

I know it looks like something is wrong here- showing a picture of a Hamsa and talking about kids?
well, few weeks back I was working in my studio and my 7 year old came in. I was in the process of making the flower backround when she asked- "aren't you bored putting only flowers on your hamsa"...
me- I don't know
little one- want me to help you brighten up your pattern?
me (feelling a bit intimidated by this little intruder) - o.k. let's hear your idea
little one- why don't you add something like a wave here?
me- mmm... o.k. here is a light blue wave. are you done?
little one- but you can also add beads, but in two colors not just one like you always do
me (starting to understand I underestimated this opportunity)- you know what? you choos the colors and the pattern and I will put it wherever you say
you can see where I am going here right? this design was made y my 7 year old girl. ... next time I will try not to be unfreindly when I am beind interupted in my studio...

Back in 2006 I was invited to make samples of Bake&Bend by sculpey for a vendor show. one of the things that I did was this bag, the tiles are made from polymer clay and they are knitted together with wool.
if you like to see more of the samples that I made back then for the show please visit my B&B gallery .
So, you make ask, what is this relevant now? 3 years after the show?
well, yesterday I came across Eti's ornament that combines wool stitches. I really liked that and I think it is one of the things that is amazing with polymer clay. you can combine it with lots of other materials, bringing knowledge from other deciplines.

I baught some new metal findings which I really like. I was planning to combine them with my jewlery but when they arrived I saw that they are too big for my needs. so I incorporated them into my Hamsas and created a new line of them. this is one example to the new line.
